If you’re a hunting and shooting enthusiast with an appreciation of all things Italian, especially fantastic food and wine, beautiful countryside and great company, then you will really enjoy these all-inclusive hunting experiences in central Italy. Hunt wild boar, pheasant & partridge, or go clay shooting with world champion marksmen.
Our Hunt Nation Italian hunting experiences are about traditional Italian hunts, great food and wine, and experiencing Italy in a very unique and authentic way. We are looking for people who are not just interested in hunting but also want to immerse themselves into the whole Italian experience. The guides, the cooks and the various lodgings and owners are all part of the same big family! They bring passion, enthusiasm and knowledge to every hunting experience. They specialize in wild boar, pheasant and partridge, which are the most traditional hunts in this part of Italy.
This area has a number of world-class clay shooting ranges, whether you prefer trap, skeet or sporting clays. Their guides will accompany you and provide you with some fantastic Italian shotguns and ammunition. The outfitters friends, the Spada family, are some of Italy’s greatest ever clay shooters and past world champions. On one of their shooting ranges you can try some state of the art Beretta shotguns but, most importantly, get some fantastic advice and tips from people who truly know their stuff. It’s great fun but most importantly you can really hone your skills. They offer clay shooting as a single day trip or an integrated part of their hunting packages.
Rome is the closest major airport, it is 2.5 hour drive to their village. They only include transfers on their 7-day package, otherwise the cost is €300. They will send a driver and luxury vehicle to pick you up in the arrival lounge at the airport or at your hotel. Some adventuresome types can take a train from Rome’s main station (Roma Termini) to a nearby train station and they will pick you up from there free of charge. You won’t need a vehicle because they look after all their transport needs, however, if you prefer that option please let Hunt Nation know that.
There are many beautiful medieval towns and castles in the area, such as Assisi, Spoleto or Montefalco, and your outfitter is happy to take you to visit them. There are also many wineries and olive mills which you can visit, too. They do these tours for no extra charge – it is all part of the Italian experience! If you bring along any non-hunting partners they will also take them to a spa for a massage and sauna, or cooking lessons, or museums and galleries. The point is they want to customize your Italian experience to give you a choice of options to enjoy.
They have a Benelli 20 gauge shotgun with a shorter stock for women. Their standard shotgun is a Franchi semi-automatic 12 or 20 gauge, but they also have shotguns from their family collection, including some of the Beretta SO series 12 gauge, including some true collector’s items. For boar hunting you use rifles – either Benelli or Browning .30-06 or .308, usually without a scope due to the fast shot requirements. The dogs flush the boar out and you must shoot quickly to roll them over! You can experience either some or all of the traditional game hunting they offer. You will be hunting on some of the best reserves in central Italy. Your quarry can include wild boar, pheasant and partridge hunting. Even red stag can be made available.
They can also organize an assortment of clay shooting alongside some world champion marksmen. Each hunt would be on separate days and each with different breeds of dogs working with you. Members of their extended family – Luca, Massimo and Alessandro – will be your local outfitters and will accompany you on each of the hunts. They’re local boys, great hunters and real characters. There’s also Mac, a New Zealander who married into their family and who will be your English-speaking connection.
Pheasant & Partridge Hunting
You can hunt pheasant and partridge in the open countryside in an area covering more than 7,500 acres of both farm land and high hillside pastures. They will furnish with Beretta 12 or 20 gauge shotguns. Their well-trained dogs will search and point the birds among the juniper and shrubs, allowing you a few extra seconds to line up the shot.
Wild Boar Hunting
Wild boar hunting takes place in a mountainous area of around 250 acres that is covered in forest and scrub. You will use rifles (usually Benelli or Franchi) to shoot the boar, which are flushed out of the forest using a pack of traditional Italian boar dogs. Each hunter shoots from a stand and it takes a cool head and a good shot to drop a hard-running wild boar. Hunting wild boar is exciting, challenging and a real adrenaline rush.
Or you can skip the boar hunting and do only bird hunting.
By way of an example of what can be set up, here is an itinerary we proposed for one of our Hunt Nation clients. November is one of the good months for this type of trip. In this itinerary we proposed to offer them first class accommodations of the best quality. The lodge is very spacious and comfortable with a beautiful layout and design and you will have the family to look after you and make sure your stay is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. There is, however, a €300/night extra charge if staying at this jodge. But this is just one option, or you can stay most comfortably at their regular lodge as well. The trip includes food and wine and they are very generous with both of those!
Remember, Tuesdays and Fridays are non-hunting days in Italy. You can fill these days with Clay Shooting or the Beretta Factory Tour depending on the package you choose.
Discounts apply for groups of 8 hunters or more.
All hunters for this booking currently hold a valid, unexpired hunting license from their country of origin. You will provide a copy of your valid, unexpired hunting license upon booking this tour and shall carry the original valid, unexpired hunting license with you during each hunting expedition
