We believe that Indiana is a major sleeper state for big whitetail deer. Recent kill rates and their trophy book of Indiana whitetails, backs us up completely. Well, in October 2013 during the shotgun season, Tim Beck took a 305 7/8” monster which broke the State record and is now the #4 biggest non-typical of all time! And in November 2017, trail camera photos circulated on the Internet of an Indiana buck that some believe might be a new world record, if ever harvested or found. This outfitter hunts a total of approx. 15,000 acres in the southeast part of the State. This is comprised of a unique 4,000-acre parcel on which the outfitter has exclusive hunting rights and which is bowhunting only (crossbows are legal during archery season), and the rest is numerous private farms of various sizes that allow guns or archery. In order to preserve and enhance his trophy quality, he does apply a 140″ or 4.5-year old minimum, with a $500 penalty for violating (he does use some discretion, however, and gives leeway of 5” on bow hunts and 10” on gun hunts). Of course, with such a high minimum, you must realize success rates will not be high – this is a hunt for the diehard whitetail hunter wanting a giant and willing to eat tag soup to get it done. We think this is an awesome opportunity! And the cost is incredibly reasonable.
His area in southeastern Indiana is a well-kept secret – known for legendary deer and turkey. Just a few miles from the Ohio River, this outfitter hunts (archery only) a 4,000-acre parcel is a large former military installation that has been professionally managed by this outfitter for over a decade to grow giant whitetail deer and turkeys. He also hunts numerous nearby private farms outside the base (rifle, muzzleloader or archery). And while his rifle hunts are very popular and quite busy (expect approx. 20 hunters in camp for opener), his archery and particularly muzzleloader hunts are very good (approx. 40% success on M/L hunts) and under-hunted. Even the second week of rifle season sees a lot fewer hunters in the woods.

Rifle: November 12-27 – 5-day hunt $3,975 per person
Muzzleloader: December 3-18 – 5-day hunt $3,500 per person
Youth: Last weekend in September – 2-day hunt $1,750 per person
All hunts include lodging and meals.
There is also a special youth season deer hunt they allow in late September. Weather is moderated, with temperatures in the 50s to high 70s. Deer are in feed patterns and you set up on a feed corridor or bedding trail. Here are the regulations:
Youth age 17 or younger on the date of the hunt can participate but must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age. The youth hunter may harvest one (1) deer, either antlered or antlerless. The youth hunter must comply with all other deer hunting regulations.
The youth hunter must possess a valid license for hunting deer (youth hunt/trap or other) while in the field unless exempt from needing a license. The youth’s adult partner must possess a valid hunting license of any type that is not an apprentice license.
The youth hunter and adult partner must wear hunter orange. The youth hunter may use a legal firearm, bow and arrow, or crossbow to take a deer. The adult partner cannot take a deer and may not possess a firearm, muzzleloader, bow and arrow, or crossbow while in the field with the youth hunter, except for a handgun carried lawfully.
Anyone born after Dec. 31, 1986 must successfully complete a DNR offered hunter education class to purchase an Indiana hunting license. Hunters certified in another state or Canada can also present a card or certificate and purchase an Indiana hunting license.
