COLORADO DIY LODGE OR CABIN HUNT #219

COLORADO DIY LODGE OR CABIN HUNT #219

wild-skies-lodge_block_2_image_ae51b77affa04aae4baf This facility has two different locations available to rent. There are comfortable cabins in their Craig area, which are used as a base to operate from and you then drive to the public hunting and fishing lands nearby, and also in the Flat Tops. They can take up to 22 people in their cabins.

THE LODGE

In their beautiful luxury lodge they can handle up to 12 people, usually consisting of several small groups, but they will rent it out to a group exclusively provided there is a minimum number of 5. It is rented out by the week. It is located on the northern end of the Flat Top Wilderness Area, based on 100 acres of private land with a half mile of river frontage and surrounded on three sides by the Routt National Forest (approx. 1,000,000 acres in total). Besides spectacular scenery, this area has the highest elk population in the world, estimated at around 35,000 to 40,000 head. The lodge is likely to be the most exquisite hunting cabin you have ever visited. It has 3,500 square feet with 4 bedrooms (6 queen beds and 2 sets of twin bunkbeds), 3.5 baths, and two multi-level decks. There is a full walkout basement, a wood burning fireplace, a lower level recreation room and radiant in-floor heating throughout. From the deck (which has a propane BBQ grill) you look out over Dunckley Pass and the East Fork of the Williams Fork River is directly below. Elevations in the area are 8,500-11,500 feet.

colorado-outdoor-sports_1-225x300 The gourmet kitchen with a bar area has two ovens and a 6 burner stove. There is a mud room, a large capacity washer and dryer a 55” flat screen TV, a foosball table, an air hockey table and a large game table and poker game set. Each of the upper level bedrooms has a door to the balcony.

The Lodge is in Unit 12. The river that runs through the property is the division line between unit 12 and unit 231.  That is important because Unit 12 requires a draw for archery elk, while Unit 231 is over-the-counter. Terrain and animal numbers are very similar in both units.

THE CABINS

They also have 2 separate fully-furnished complexes near Craig, Colorado. The first one, their original lodgings in Craig, has 4 studio cabins (each sleeps 2) each with full bath and kitchenette, two 2-bedroom cabins (which can sleep 4-7) with full kitchen and washer/dryer, and one 3-bedroom/3-bathroom cabin (which can sleep 6-10) with full kitchen, washer/dryer, and wood-burning stove (along with furnace). About a mile down the road is their other complex, which is “lodge style” rather than standalone cabins. It offers a total of 10 different units consisting of 1- to 3-bedrooms, each with a different sleeping configuration. Simply let us know how many people in your group and their compositions (friends, family, couples, etc.) and we will let you know what’s available to suit.

j-bar-h-outfitters_1-225x300 All units, except the studio cabins have access to propane BBQ grills. All kitchenware, linens, weekly housekeeping and utilities including Wi-Fi/Internet and Direct TV are included. Daily housekeeping is available upon request, and a property manager is available 24 hours a day. There is ample parking on site for trailers or larger vehicles, and they are located in an agricultural setting surrounded by pastureland just outside town, but less than 1 mile to grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants.

The accommodations are a great alternative for those tired of staying at hotels and looking for a fully furnished rental in a quiet setting that is still close to town and adjacent to good hunting in the National Forest.

Daily housekeeping is available upon request, and a property manager is available 24 hours a day.
