Zimbabwe Premier Safari #206

Zimbabwe Premier Safari #206

This outfit and its PH owner has long been considered to be one of the very best in Zimbabwe. His prices while not cheap, are reasonable, AND he is a no nonsense professional with tons of field experience. PLUS his safari concession, the OMAY, is one of the finest in existence in Zimbabwe!

The Omay concession is situated on Lake Kariba, with a lengthy border on the lake and IT ALSO has a long eastern border on one of the National Parks, with both features contributing greatly to the high game quantities existent in this concession.

Zimbabwe-206-Elephant-Pic-1 The concession is a huge one with all the features you might desire in a concession, including plenty of water and plenty of ground. You reach the concession either by vehicle (less expensive but much longer); or else by a charter flight of 90 minutes, which then lands adjacent to the shore of the lake. You are smack in the middle of nearly ONE MILLION ACRES to hunt! This concession holds most of the big Five, including elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and of course hippo. There are large quantities of game here and the country is extremely varied, ranging from the Zambezi River Valley, to high hills, rolling plains and deep timber. Everything game can want is here! This is absolutely one of the premier and finest concessions in Zimbabwe.

Their two main camps are both located on the beautiful lakeshore complete with stunning views and easy access to fishing. Both camps are generator-powered permanent structures with ensuite facilities so your comfort is ensured.

Here you will find Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo,  and all are normally  plentiful in their big-game hunting areas. Hippo, Sable, Crocodile, Kudu, Zebra, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Warthog and numerous other smaller species are also found here. For other species, they have access to smaller concessions where Leopard, Eland, Zebra, Kudu, Impala, Tsessebe, Wildebeest, Sable, Warthog, Duiker, Steenbok and other animals can be hunted to round out your wish list!!

Matetsi Unit 5 Safari Area
The Matetsi Units are free range, fair chase hunting areas within an hour’s drive of the famous Victoria falls, unfenced, wild and renowned for quality dangerous game, sable and a variety of plains game. Unit 5 is the best located unit as it is directly adjoined to the Hwange National Park by a 42 kilometer unfenced boundary with the Hwange national park, a 5000 square mile wildlife reserve home to over 60 000 elephants, countless buffalo, abundant lion and leopard and a myriad of plains game. Matetsi Unit 5 is 390 Kilometers squared, the biggest of all the Matetsi Units.

There are 5 luxury client chalets each sleeping two persons, all with ensuite bathrooms, a spacious lounge, dining room and bar area with a fire pit overlooking a vast open plain. The camp is run by generator power and has Wi-Fi, and a swimming pool for those warmer summer days.
With natural springs and permanent water in the rivers, Unit 5 has natural drinking water all year around making the unit a hot spot to animals from the adjoining Hwange National Park. The rolling hills and valleys in Unit 5 are a perfect area for the resident elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, sable, roan and a whole host of plains game, besides the resident populations that live in Unit 5 there are also migratory animals moving into and out of the Unit at all times of the year.

Matetsi Unit 5 is short hour drive from Victoria Falls International Airport, there is no charter flight needed to hunt the Matetsi Units

By way of explaining just how much game there is – let’s look at his rough yearly quota, which is huge:
