We at Hunt Nation are very excited about representing this outfitter and believe he has some of the best success rates on big bulls you will find in the state of New Mexico. Regardless of your choice of weapon whether it be rifle, archery or muzzleloader, he simply gets it done.
They specialize in guided hunts. In 2022 they had a 92% success rate on rifle hunts. Muzzleloader was 90% with the 2 unsuccessful hunters missing shots on 300” plus bulls. You won’t find a better place to have a legitimate chance on 300” bulls with archery tackle but be advised you have to take advantage when the opportunity arises. In 2022 he had 14 of 26 archery hunters tag their bull. However, 10 hunters wounded bulls that were not recovered with one hunter passing several bulls looking for a monster. One hunter had no shot opportunities. As you can see by the numbers, this is a phenomenal rate for shot opportunities on bulls that average in the 280”-290” range with much bigger taken every year.
ELK HUNTS:
Located in the Northwest corner of New Mexico close to the town of Cuba, hunts are conducted in units 2, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6C and 7 on both public and private lands. Hunters flying would arrive in Albuquerque, rent a car and drive the one and a half hours to camp.
Each of his hunt areas have the option of tent camp or ranch house accommodations depending on a hunter’s preference. He has some unique setups including an old schoolhouse he uses as a base camp in unit 2 and a bus that serves as a mobile kitchen in others.
Most of our clients attempt to draw their tags to avoid having to purchase a landowner tag, which can add around $8,000 to the cost of the hunt. Or you can simply buy your hunt and your voucher, then skip the worries about a draw! Odds of drawing a tag in the outfitter pool hover around 15-25% depending on weapon choice and season dates. Contact us at Hunt Nation to discuss your application. He also backs you up by spending around $500,000 annually on landowner vouchers. If a client is unsuccessful in the draw or misses the draw cutoff, the outfitter can guarantee him a hunt if he is willing to pay for the landowner voucher. Depending on a hunter’s physical capabilities and overall hunt preferences, that will dictate where the outfitter has you apply. He has a variety of terrains and ranches available to match your desires with the best opportunities for success. Hunting methods will be a mixture of glassing, spot and stalk, calling and sitting at water holes.
All rifle elk hunts are conducted with 2×1 guiding and provide a full 5 days of hunting. Hunts also include meals, lodging, in-field transportation, and trophy prep. Archery hunts are 2×1 guiding with 6 full days of hunting.

OTHER EXPENSES: Upgrade to 1×1 guiding $1,500. Observers are $1,000 per person.

DEER HUNTS:
Drawing a deer tag in New Mexico is a long shot but if you beat the odds this outfitter takes some monster deer. This past year he took several in the 190” range and a monster well over 200”. Also keep in mind that if you need to see a lot of deer every day this is not the hunt for you. You will have to hunt hard, but the chances of taking an exceptional mule deer are very good. He hunts various units. He does on occasion get some landowner vouchers, specifically in Unit 5A. This hunt is mainly done over water holes regardless of weapon. Perfect for the mobility challenged hunter. Expectations on this particular hunt would be for 150-160” deer on the very high end. Call for details on other options.
